Is your wiener dog the fastest in the Hill Country?

A Boerne festival this month gives you a chance to find out.

A series of  dachshund races will headline Das Festival of Kendall, an event that will fill the June 15-16 Father’s Day weekend with games, music, vendors and parades through Boerne.  The name of the event translates from German to “the Festival of Kendall," referring to Kendall County.

The festival is organized by Das Festival of Kendall, a nonprofit that uses the event to raise funds for local charities. This year's designated charities are the Heartland Children’s Home, Comfort Table & Food Pantry, Comfort Golden Age Center and the Kendall County Women’s Shelter, according to the festival's website.

The festival will be hosted at Random Beer Garden, 11 Upper Cibolo Creek Road in Boerne. Its main events will be dachshund races at 3 p.m. on both June 15 and 16. The race is for purebred dachshunds only, according to the Das Festival website, which is where interested dog owners can sign up

The festival will include a Main Street parade at 10 a.m. on June 15, an egg toss, wheelbarrow and sack races, and a watermelon-eating contest, along with performances from local music acts.
