San Antonio on Wednesday will benefit from milder temperatures in the wake of overnight severe weather. The relatively cooler air should give the city a break from the dangerously high levels of heat and humidity we saw earlier this week.
“Rain chances will be low to start off the day but gradually return towards late in the day and into Wednesday evening,” the weather service said in a forecast bulletin. “While a few strong to severe storms are possible, it’s less of a concern” compared to Tuesday’s overnight storms.
Wednesday will kick off with patchy fog before 9 a.m., and San Antonio has a 30% chance of afternoon rain, but we can expect an otherwise partly sunny day with temperatures staying below a seasonable 91 degrees, forecasters said.

Those rain chances will linger into Wednesday night, but fade away before 7 p.m. The mostly cloudy skies, along with east-southeast winds of 5 to 10 mph, will help keep overnight temperatures above 74 degrees.
Thursday and beyond
The forecast for the rest of the week depends a bit on how the weather develops Wednesday because the atmosphere will likely remain somewhat unstable and susceptible to storm activity, which the weather service sometimes refers to as convection.
“If this does occur, we will likely see some scattered convection ongoing at the beginning of the long-term period Wednesday evening across the Edwards Plateau,” the weather service said in its forecast bulletin. “This activity would then move southeast before likely dissipating by midnight,” adding that “(atmospheric) instability amounts would support the possibility of a strong to severe storm.”

San Antonio on Thursday can expect partly sunny skies with gusty southeast winds of 5 to 10 mph helping to push temperatures to as high as 94 degrees. At night, the city has a slim 20% chance of rain before 1 a.m. However, the clouds likely won’t do much except help keep overnight temperatures above 74 degrees, with a boost from east-southeast winds of 5 to 15 mph.
Friday’s weather will look similar to Thursday’s, with a 20% chance of rain under partly sunny skies. Daytime temperatures are expected to reach 93 degrees as southeast winds of 5 to 10 mph kick up, including gusts as strong as 20 mph. At night, forecasters are calling for a 30% chance of rain, mainly before 1 a.m., under cloudy skies and with a balmy overnight low of 74.
